Second Opinion Consultations

We offer a complimentary office visit exam with second opinion consultations. Our goal is to review and examine your pet and make our own assessment so that you can compare information and make an informed decision for your pet’s wellbeing. Please note that any diagnostics or other tests or lab work is an additional fee.

Spay and Neuter Program

We offer 50% off the standard cost of the spay and neuter procedures year round as we believe in spaying and neutering your pets! We also honor the Friends of Animals program. Please note that offers cannot be combined. The discount applies to the spay and neuter procedure directly and any other lab tests or blood work that may be required is additional.

Hospitalization

Here you can find important information to prepare for your pet’s hospital stay or surgical visit at the Animal Hospital of Sussex County. Please note the below information when preparing for your pet’s visits.

  • Pets arriving at the hospital may be admitted between 7:45 am and 8:45 am the morning of surgery.
  • No pet should have food or water after 10:00 pm the night before surgery.
  • All pets must be up to date on annual vaccinations in order to protect them against preventable infectious diseases.
  • To minimize the chances of mishaps, we ask that you keep your pet on a leash or in a carrier when in the reception area. The receptionist will be happy to provide a leash free of charge if you do not have one.

Our kennel area is uniquely designed so that all patients can be observed from our treatment area. Nursing care is a high priority and qualified personnel are available to ensure comfort. When you leave your pets with us you can be sure they are cared for properly.

Surgery

Surgery is an integral part of our practice and is performed under similar aseptic conditions that exist in a human hospital, meeting the highest surgical standards. Modern anesthetic equipment and close patient monitoring ensure the safest and most comfortable anesthesia possible for our patients.

All patients are given expert care and attention during surgery. After their procedure, they are monitored during the recovery process until they are ready to go home. At that time, we ensure that our staff speaks with you directly to discuss the outcome of the procedure and any after care needs, as well as what to expect once your pet is home.

EXIT INTERVIEW:
A veterinarian or vet tech will personally speak with you prior to taking your pet home. They will explain the post-surgical care required by your pet. You will also be given a set of written instructions to ensure that you know how to properly care your pet at home.

Should you have any concerns, or your pet have any issues, please contact us and we are always here to help.
